Hawaiki

A kōrero from the Te Tua Uriuri era

Hawaiki, the origins of our people. The distant memory carried through the ages by the stories that are told to this day.

There are many ideas of where Hawaiki is including Egypt, Java, Marquesas, Madagascar, Asia, the Americas and the Pacific to name a handful. There is research that validates each idea.

We may never agree on where that origin is but we can all agree on Hawaiki as a name that incapsulates our ancestral roots. Hawaiki, the place of origin.
